World Students Day- Remembering India’s missile man Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam
His birth anniversary was declared as “Students day” by the United Nations in 2010 and since then it is celebrated all across the globe.

The World Students Day is celebrated every year on 15th October to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. He was a dedicated teacher and he identified himself the most in that role. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam’s immensely contributed to the welfare of students and the promotion of education.
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was a former President of India. He was born on 15th October 1931 in Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu. He was a renowned scientist and worked for ISRO and DRDO before becoming the President of India. He is known as the “Missile man” for his role in developing various missiles and the satellite launching vehicle (PSLV). He also played a very important role as Chief Scientific Adviser to the Prime Minister in the ambitious Pokhran trials by India.
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam passed away in 2015 doing what he loved the most- teaching. He was delivering a lecture at IIM Shillong, he suffered a stroke and fell down from the stage.
The theme of this year’s World Student day is “Learning from people, planet, prosperity, and peace.” The theme intends to highlight the development ambitions along with a humanitarian approach.
Students are an asset for any nation and it is important to focus on promoting their education as well as overall holistic development. Students will shape the future of the world.
