The politics in India has been constantly witnessing new lows. The political leaders and their parties have always been involved in giving unparliamentary comments for their rivals. One such example came yesterday when a Trinamool Congress leader called Union Finance Minister Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman as “Kali Nagin”, or the venomous snake.
A Member of Parliament from TMC, Kalyan Banerjee compared Ms. Sitharaman with the venomous snake. He was referring to the way she has been handling the economy of the country in the last few months since the corona outbreak.
The Bhartiya Janata Party, in retaliation, has given sharp reactions. BJP said that TMC Chief and West Bengal’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has totally lost it. BJP said that the comments from TMC MP reflect the party’s thought process. They said that TMC has no code of conduct at the party and has absolutely no control over its members. BJP said that the comment has come out of frustration.
On Saturday, July 4, while addressing a rally at Bankura against rising fuel prices and the proposed privatization of trains, Kalyan Banerjee also demanded Ms. Sitharaman’s resignation.
“Just like a venomous snake kills a human being, people of the country are dying one by one owing to Nirmala Sitharaman who has shattered the country’s economy,” he said.
Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus cases in West Bengal is continuously rising. The state has recorded 6,329 deaths so far related to COVID19 infection. The total number of cases is nearing 25,000.
