This year’s Amarnath Yatra stands canceled due to COVID19

The Amarnath Yatra for this year stands canceled. The Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) on Tuesday canceled the Amarnath Yatra for this year in the wake of a rising number of coronavirus cases.

The authorities had earlier decided to commence the yatra from July 21 and conclude it by August 3. However, due to the exponential growth in the COVID19 infection across the nation, they have now withdrawn their earlier decision.

Apparently, the Board has decided to Live Telecast the Darshan of the morning and evening Aarti. The Board said it is important to respect the sentiments and religious values of the devotees. The devotees can now do the Virtual Darshan of Shri Amarnathji.

Last week while his visit to the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid a visit to the holy shrine. The Defence Minister performed rituals and worshiped at the AmarnathJi cave.

The number of coronavirus cases in India has crossed the 11.5 lakh mark. India is registering more than 35,000 COVID cases every day. The Ministry of Health has, however, informed that the mortality rate due to COVID19 in India has reduced to 2.43% which is lowest in the world.
