The controversy around Tandav gets murkier- FIR filed in UP’s Lucknow against the makers of the show and Amazon Prime
Meanwhile, the show has also landed itself in a controversy after BJP MP Kapil Mishra has slapped a notice on Amazon Prime video for hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus in some scenes. He has demanded that the show should be removed from the OTT Platform with immediate effect.

As soon as Saif Ali Khan’s new web series Tandav released, Twitter was flooded with reactions. Twitterati started calling out the series as a routine political drama and ‘mediocre’. Tandav web series marks the debut of Ali Abbas Zafar in the digital space as a filmmaker.
Tandav has an ensemble of a power-packed star cast namely Sunil Grover, Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub among others. Sadly, the show failed miserably to utilize the hype around it and has failed to impress the audience after its first episode.

BJP leader Ram Kadam on Sunday remarked that a complaint at Mumbai’s Ghatkopar Police Station against ‘Tandav’ has been filed by him. The allegations remain more or less the same that the show has hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus and he would not tolerate it. An FIR has also been filed in Lucknow’s Hazratganj Police station against Amazon Prime India’s head of original content, director, producer, and writer of the show, and others.
Meanwhile, Twitter is abuzz with reactions on the controversy and many people have slammed the actor and makers. Amazon Prime videos officials in India have been summoned by the IB Ministry on January 17 after various politicians asked the show to be banned on social media.
It will be interesting to see how these events unfold and whether it will ignite the ‘Secularism’ debate again.
