As the Unlock 4 duration ends on Wednesday, September 30, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is expected to give more relaxations as the nation enters the Unlock 5 phase from October 1.
In Unlock 5, the government may announce guidelines to reopen schools and colleges. Currently, schools have partially reopened from September 21 in compliance with the Unlock 4 guidelines. Also, schools that came inside the containment zones were not allowed to reopen.
Under the Unlock 4 guidelines, the MHA had mentioned that States and UTs may allow up to 50% of teaching and non-teaching staff to come to the schools to manage online teaching and other related works.
Some of the states and UTs like Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Madhya Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu have already reopened the schools for class 9-12 students.
In the new guidelines for Unlock 5, the government is expected to analyze the efforts that it took to conduct the JEE Main and NEET entrance examination in the month of September amid the coronavirus outbreak.
Apparently, the number of coronavirus cases in India crossed the 61-lakh mark.
