Priyanka Gandhi Vadra asked to vacate her Lodhi Road bungalow by 1st August

Congress Vice President and sister of Congress Party’s ‘Prime Ministerial Candidate’, Ms. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has been issued a notice to vacate her Lodhi Road house. Ms. Vadra has been given one month’s time to do so.

As per a letter issued by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra lives in a bungalow on Lodhi Road that happens to be one of the most protected zones in Delhi. As she no longer has Special Protection Group (SPG) security, she now doesn’t qualify to stay in the most protected zone. Therefore, she will have to vacate her bungalow.

The letter says that Ms. Vadra will have to vacate her bungalow on or before August 1st, 2020. If she stays beyond the given time frame, she will have to pay the panel rent.

“Consequent upon withdrawal of SPG protection and grant of Z+ security cover by Ministry of Home Affairs, which does not have provision for allotment/retention of government accommodation on security ground to you, the allotment of Type 6B house number 35, Lodhi Estate, New Delhi is hereby canceled with effect from 01/07/2020,” said the ministry’s notice.

Elite SPG cover given to Ms. Vadra, her mother and Congress president Sonia Gandhi and brother Rahul Gandhi, a Congress MP from Kerala, was withdrawn in November last year.
