The tally of coronavirus cases in India has crossed the 30-lakh mark. On Sunday, August 23, India recorded 69,239 fresh COVID19 cases in the last 24 hours. The total tally now stands at 30,44,940.
India also recorded 912 deaths due to coronavirus in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of casualties in India rose to 56,706.
As per the data shared by the Ministry of Health, out of the overall 30,44,940 cases, India now has 7,07,668 active cases while more than 22 lakh people have recovered from the coronavirus infection. The ministry also informed that the positivity rate in India now stands at 8.64%.
As per the data shared by ICMR, the total number of samples tested till August 22 is 3,52,92,220 including 8,01,147 samples tested on Saturday.
India is currently the worst-hit country in Asia and the world’s third worst-hit after the United States of America and Brazil.
