Mirzapur 2: Less voilence, less nudity, more content with intense acting

Where season 1 of Mirzapur revolved around Kaleen Bhaiya, Munna Bhaiya, Guddu, and Bablu Pandit, Season 2 allows every other character to come out of the shadow.

After a gripping season 1, the most awaited series of the year Mirzapur is back with a bang with its season 2. Season 2 was scheduled to be released on 23rd October but Amazon surprised its viewers by releasing it a day earlier.

The show revolves around crime, illegal activities, corruption, bad governance, and gang wars and is set in the backdrop of eastern UP. Picking where it left in season 1 the season 2 showcases the upcoming changes for characters of Ali Fazal, Shweta Tripathi, and others after witnessing a bloodbath in the last episode of season 1.

Season 2 starts with even more violence as Ali Fazal (Guddu Bhaiya) is in a revenge-seeking mode after his brother and his pregnant wife were killed. On the other hand, there are the mighty Tripathi’s or the family of “Kaaleen Bhaiya”, who are fighting a war amongst themselves. Munna Tripathi, the spoiled brat of Kaaleen Bhaiya wants himself to be declared as an undisputed king of “Mirzapur” with or without the backing of his father while Kaleen Bhaiya aka Pankaj Tripathi is himself hungry for power after forming an alliance with the CM.

The plot essentially has evolved in the second season. The season seems to be more sanitized than the previous one. If you have seen season one and enjoyed its dark narrative then the new season certainly ups the ante. It does so with more seasoned handling. The audience will definitely be able to feel the pain of the characters.

The entry of new characters adds new dimensions to the overall plot. Vijay Verma, one of the seasoned actors, plays the double role of Tyagi brothers who control the illegal trade in Bihar. Whereas, Priyanshu Penyuli plays the character of Robin, bringing some humor to the intense plot.

To sum up ‘Mirzapur 2’ is a deadly combination of power and politics. It is a grim revenge saga and has many “heroes” this time. There is a greed for power and an unsettling feeling of seeking revenge. Each character has a common dream and that is ruling over the deity that is “Mirzapur”.

Where season 1 of Mirzapur revolved around Kaleen Bhaiya, Munna Bhaiya, Guddu, and Bablu Pandit, Season 2 allows every other character to come out of the shadow. Characters like Maqbool or Babar, or even Beena Tripathi gets to showcase their importance.

The best thing about Mirzapur season 2 is that it is a fresh treat to eyes and is gripping. It definitely succeeds in striking the right chords.
