
Madhya Pradesh Governor Lalji Tandon died on Tuesday, July 21 in Lucknow at age of 85 years. He was being treated at Medanta Hospital in Lucknow for breathing issues. His son Ashutosh Tandon broke the news this morning through Twitter.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered his tribute to the departed soul. In a Tweet, PM Modi said, “Shri Lalji Tandon will be remembered for his untiring efforts to serve society. He played a key role in strengthening BJP in Uttar Pradesh. He made a mark as an effective administrator, always giving importance to public welfare. Anguished by his passing away.”
Born on April 12, 1935, and often called the ‘son of Lucknow’, Lalji Tandon was one of the oldest leaders of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and was very close to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
