Legendary actor Jagdeep ‘Soorma Bhopali’ laid to rest in Mumbai

One of the fine actors of the Hindi Film industry and a renowned comedian, Jagdeep today was laid to rest. Often called the Soorma Bhopali of the Bollywood, Jagdeep died on Wednesday, July 8 at around 8:30 PM at his Bandra residence in Mumbai. He was 81 years of age.
Jagdeep, whose real name was Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jaffrey, was laid to rest ay Shia Kbristan in Mazgaon, Mumbai in the presence of family and close friends.
Jagdeep started his cinema career as a child actor and ended up acting in more than 400 films in a career span that lasted around 6 decades. Some of his iconic roles like Soorma Bhopali ‘Sholay’, Machchar Singh in ‘Purana Mandir’, Salman Khan’s father in ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ have become cult, and are often remembered.
Several Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Shilpa Shetty, Adnan Sami, paid tribute to this legendary actor. They prayed for his departed soul and extended condolences to the family in this hour of grief.
