IPL Governing Council to meet next week to discuss the new schedule

It’s confirmed! The Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) is awaiting permission from the government to go ahead with the 2020 season of the Indian Premier League. The Governing Council of the Indian Premier League is also expected to meet next week to discuss the new schedule of the T20 tournament to be played in UAE around September – November 2020.
As per the media reports, Indian Premier League Governing Council Chairman Brijesh Patel said that a meeting is expected to happen in the next 7-10 days to discuss the scheduling of the tournament.
It is to be noted that the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday postponed the T20 World Cup 2020 due to the COVID19 pandemic. The T20 World Cup was scheduled to be played in October-November in Australia this year.
As the men’s T20 World Cup 2020 now stands postponed, the BCCI is likely to announce formally the revised schedule for IPL 2020. Earlier, it was slated to start from March 29. However, due to the coronavirus outbreak, the tournament got postponed.
