India’s COVID19 Cases Surge Above 3.2 Lakhs


India is now the 4th worst-hit country by the Coronavirus pandemic globally as the total number of COVID patients rose to 3,20,922 cases. India also recorded the highest single-day jump of 11,929 new infections in the last 24 hours, with 311 deaths. The Union Health Ministry updated the media on the number of COVID19 patients this morning. The Ministry also informed that a total of 9,195 COVID-19 patients have died so far.
India recorded a jump of more than 11,000 cases for the two consecutive days. The country now stands below the United States, Brazil, and Russia. Figures that were given by the medical research body ICMR confirmed that over 55 lakh coronavirus tests have been conducted as of 9 am on 13th June. The ICMR also informed that in the last 24 hours, about 1.43 lakh samples were tested for the detection of coronavirus.
India added over 70,000 new patients and more than 2,000 deaths in the last one week. The major contributors to this unfortunate list are Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, and Gujarat as the cases continue to rise in these states.
According to the Union Health Ministry data, Maharashtra has so far reported 1,04,568 cases, followed by Tamil Nadu (42,687) Delhi (38,958) and Gujarat (23,038).
The Union Government officials have been working day and night to check the spread of Coronavirus. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday reviewed the steps to contain the pandemic in the major containment areas across the nation. In another development, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is to hold a meeting with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Sunday, June 14 to access the state’s preparedness to fight the pandemic.
