India to build 54 mobile towers along LAC in Ladakh

The government is moving ahead on its commitment to secure India’s borders. Narendra Modi-led Union Government has today given a go-ahead to construct 54 mobile towers in Ladakh.
As per plans, 7 mobile towers will be built in the Nubra region, 17 mobile towers in Leh, 11 mobile towers in Zanskar. And the rest of 19 mobile towards to be developed in the Kargil region. Out of these, one mobile tower will be built in Demchok near Line of Actual Control (LAC).
These mobile towers will boost connectivity in remote areas. They will also boost surveillance in the region.
The government is also focusing on the timely completion of the link roads in the LAC region. It recently concluded a meeting with the Border Road Organisation (BRO) where it further strengthened it by giving additional powers.
Meanwhile, India and China on Wednesday agreed to implement disengagement and de-escalation to ensure peace at the Line of Control (LAC), said the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
