India now has more than one million COVID19 infected patients
The number of coronavirus cases in India crosses the 10 lakh (1 million) mark. With 34,956 fresh COVID19 cases being recorded in a single day, the total tally of infected cases in India reached to 10,03,832. According to the data shared by the Ministry of Health, India also recorded 687 deaths on Friday, July 17.
However, the Ministry also informed that the recovery rate from this fatal disease has further improved to 63.25%. The number of recoveries now stands at 6,12,814, while there are 3,31,146 active cases of coronavirus infection present in the country.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra also recorded its highest single-day spike in coronavirus cases on July 17. Maharashtra recorded 8,641 new cases on Friday. As per the Ministry, Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state in India with a total of 2,75,640 COVID-19 cases and 10,928 fatalities. While Tamil Nadu has 1,51,820 cases and 2,167 deaths due to COVID-19 and Delhi has reported a total of 1,16,993 cases and 3,487 deaths due to COVID-19.
It was also informed that the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has tested 1,27,39,490 samples for COVID-19 till July 15, of these 3,26,826 samples were tested yesterday.
