India now has more than 2 million COVID19 cases

The number of coronavirus cases in India has crossed the 2-million mark. As per the data released by the Ministry of Health on Thursday, August 6, India 20,06,760 COVID19 cases. India is now the third-highest COVID19 infected country in the world. The country is behind Brazil, which has more than 2.8 million cases and the US which has close to 5 million cases.
What is worrisome is the fact that India recorded more than 5,00,000 cases in just over 10 days. India had close to 1.5 million coronavirus infected cases by the end of the last week of July.
However, India has also ramped up its COVID testing infrastructure in the last 45 days. India now has around 1370 operational labs across the nation. In the month of January 2020, India had just one such lab. Also, the authorities have tested more than 2 crore samples so far.
India’s recovery rate has also improved to 67.61%. A total of 13.28 lakh patients have recovered so far, and around 40,000 patients have died. The mortality rate has also improved to near 2%.
