Heavy rainfall in Mumbai led to the collapse of two buildings leaving 3 dead
The continuous heavy downpour in Mumbai is already adding a lot of problems to Mumbaikers and today evening witnessed the collapse of two buildings due to this heavy rain. 3 people lost lives and 7 are injured, while it is feared that a few are still trapped in the debris.
One incident is reported in the Fort area of Mumbai where a portion of an old six-story building collapsed leading to the death of two people and two are said to be critically injured. The other incident was reported at 2.30 pm at the Malvani Malad area where a two-story building collapsed. At least one person was killed and 5 others are injured in this incident.
Ambulances, rescue vans, and fire engines rushed to both the sites and rescue operation is still going on. A team of the NDRF is helping the fire brigade in the search operation for the trapped persons. There are many old decayed buildings in Mumbai and every year there is news of buildings’ collapsing amidst heavy downpour risking the lives of the inhabitant.
