Gangster Vikas Dubey shot dead in an encounter by UP Police

The tale of Kanpur’s notorious gangster Vikas Dubey doesn’t seem to end so early. At least the recent twist in the tale ensures this. Vikas Dubey, who was arrested from Ujjain yesterday on July 9, was shot dead in an encounter while being brought back to Kanpur.

It so happened that Vikas Dubey tried to escape when the UP Police STF vehicle, which was being used to transport him to Kanpur, overturned due to heavy rain and slippery roads.

When the UP STF personnel chased Vikas Dubey, he grabbed one of the police personnel and snatched his service revolver and fired on the policemen. In retaliation, the Police also fired shots at him. And, in this exchange of bullets, Vikas Dubey was killed. This happened around 7:00 AM in the morning on July 10 when the convoy was approaching Kanpur. The accident happened near Barra in Kanpur.

Four police personnel, including two Inspectors, were also injured in the encounter. They were immediately taken to the hospital and given medical treatment. The doctors have confirmed that all four of them are now out of danger.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is expected to address a press conference to give more details of the event.
