Union Minister Pratap Sarangi has announced that every citizen of India would get the coronavirus vaccine for free. The Minister’s statement has come at a time when the opposition made an uproar after Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) declared free coronavirus vaccine for every Bihari in its Bihar elections manifesto.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that all people will be provided free of cost vaccines. An estimated Rs 500 odd will be spent on vaccination of each person,” Union Minister Sarangi said while addressing a campaign meeting for the November 3 assembly by-poll in Balasore.
The announcement by Pratap Sarangi, the Union Minister of State for Animal Husbandry, Dairy, Fisheries, and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, is expected to put a halt to all the discussions over which state to get the free vaccine and who shall have to pay for it.
Though the opposition parties such as the Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), and Left parties attacked the BJP over its poll promise of free vaccine for every Bihari. These parties claimed that the NDA is playing dirty politics in the name of coronavirus pandemic.
Bihar is going to vote on October 28 in the first phase of the three-phased voting schedule. The campaigning for the first phase would end on Monday, October 26.
