Delhi’s Lt Governor Anil Baijal withdraws his ‘5-days mandatory institutional quarantine’ order

Behaving on the expected lines, the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi Government has opposed Lt Governor Anil Baijal’s order that a 5-day institutional quarantine is a must for COVID-19 patients.
As the chairman of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal had on Friday, June 19 ordered a 5-day mandatory institutional quarantine for every COVID-19 patient who was supposed to go under home isolation in Delhi.
A plea has also been moved in Delhi High Court challenging L-G’ order. And, reacting to the pressure by the Delhi Government and its various MLAs, sources confirm that the Lt Governor has withdrawn his order.
Delhi, for the first time since the outbreak of Coronavirus, has recorded over 3,000 new COVID-19 cases in a single day on Friday. This took the total tally of COVID-19 patients to 53,116 cases. With 66 fatalities in 24 hours, the death toll reached 2,035.
