Delhi Police arrests Umar Khalid for his role in Delhi Riots
Umar Khalid is a former JNU student and has been an active participant in the anti CAA and NRC protests. He has also given many hate speeches thereby enticing the masses to go against the establishment.

The Delhi Police has arrested Umar Khalid under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for his involvement in the Delhi Riots that happened in the month of February this year. Umar Khalid is a former JNU student and has been an active participant in the anti CAA and NRC protests. He has also given many hate speeches thereby enticing the masses to go against the establishment.
The special cell of the Delhi Police, on Sunday, September 13, had summoned Umar Khaled for interrogation related to some other case. However, while interrogation he revealed important information about the Delhi Riots as well. The Delhi Police then decided to arrest him.
Eventually, three accused of the Pinjda Tod gang named Devangana Kalita, Natasha Narwal, and Gulfisha Fathima had already spoken about the role of Umar Khalid. They had said in their statements that Umar Khalid encouraged them to go against the government. He was also involved in arranging and managing the mob for the protest.
Around 50 lives were lost and around 600 got injured in the riots in north-east Delhi from February 23 to 26. The riots erupted after weeks of protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and the National Register of Citizens in different parts of the city.
