
The Delhi Police has successfully arrested an ISIS terrorist from Delhi who was planning a big operation. After a brief encounter, the special team of the Delhi Police arrested the terrorist from the Ridge Road near Dhaula Kuan on Friday, August 21 at around 11:30 PM.
The Police have identified the ISIS operative as Abu Yusuf Khan. Khan comes from Uttar Pradesh. As per the intelligence reports, Khan was a Lone Wolf on the mission and was planning a big terrorist attack in Delhi.
The Police seized two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) weighing approximately 15 kgs. These IEDs were fitted inside two pressure cookers. Police also recovered one pistol from Khan.
The intelligence report also says that Khan was being assisted by one of his associates who managed to escape the raid. This associate was responsible for arranging the logistic requirements.
As per the reports, the Police have successfully defused the IEDs. The Bomb Squad dug a bunker inside the Buddha Jayanti Park and defused the bombs there to minimize the impact.
Team of Delhi Police have launched the search operation to arrest the absconding associate. Police have also informed NSG and NIA about the recoveries.
The Police have issued ‘High-Alert’ to adjoining states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab. The Delhi Police have also alerted Maharashtra Police as the state is observing Ganesh Utsav and the terrorists might target the festival to create panic.
