Delhi Government cancels leaves of Medical Employees to handle rising Coronavirus cases

As the number of COVID-19 cases rises to 53,000 mark, the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government has canceled the leaves of all the employees in the health department. The order is applicable to all the doctors and other support staff of the hospitals.

“All MDs, dean, and directors of hospitals and medical institutions under the Health and Family Welfare Department are advised to issue directions to all the staff under their control who are on leave of any kind to immediately report for their duties”, stated the Delhi Government order.

However, the government allowed the employees to take leave under the “most compelling circumstances”.

Delhi remains the third most COVID affected state in India. The top two states are Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.

Earlier today, the Lt Governor Anil Baijal had to withdraw his order of a “5-days mandatory institutional quarantine”. He withdrew the order following strong criticism from the Delhi Government and its MLAs.
