DDLJ is celebrating its Silver Jubilee today

DDLJ explored a soft-paced romance between Raj and Simran who are Non-residential Indians but desis at heart. It was shot at beautiful locations in Switzerland and Punjab.

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is one of the iconic movies of the 1990s decade. The film depicted the love story of two very different individuals Raj and Simran. It was directed by Aditya Chopra and was released on October 20, 1995.

DDLJ explored a soft-paced romance between Raj and Simran who are Non-residential Indians but desis at heart. It was shot at beautiful locations in Switzerland and Punjab. It went on to become a cult classic making Shahrukh Khan and Kajol the most popular onscreen pair.
DDLJ stood up to the test of time with many audiences rewatching the flick in Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir which used to air its shows before pandemic struck the world.

To commemorate the 25 years, the bronze statue of actors Shahrukh Khan and Kajol will be unveiled at London’s Leicester Square. The statue will depict a part of the scene that was shot in Leicester Square.

Nine other equally iconic cinema giants like Harry Potter, Laurel and Hardy, Bugs Bunny, Mary Poppins, Mr. Bean, Paddington, Wonder Woman, Batman, and Gene Kelly in Singin’ in the Rain will accompany the bronze statue of SRK and Kajol.

Shahrukh Rukh Khan has renamed his Twitter Handle and has also shared a special video in the loving memory of DDLJ. Khan wrote, “25 years!!! Filled with gratitude towards you for loving Raj & Simran, with all your heart. This always feels special.”

This is indeed a proud moment for DDLJ and Indian Cinema that it is recognized outside India too.
