Coronavirus cases in India touch 5.5-lakh mark

The number of COVID19 cases continues to rise in India. For the second consecutive day, India recorded more than 19,000 cases. The data given by the Ministry of Health shows 19,459 new cases in the last 24 hours. The data also says that 380 patients succumbed to the coronavirus infection on June 28, 2020.

The total number of coronavirus cases in India has now reached to 5,48,318. This includes 2,10,120 active cases, 3,21,723 cured cases, and 16,475 deaths.

Further, the data given by ICMR says that a cumulative total of 83,98,362 samples have been tested up to June 28 out of which 1,70,560 samples have been tested on Sunday itself.

To revamp the fight against the coronavirus and to stop the spread, many state governments are reimplementing lockdown. As per the reports, Gurugram in Haryana, Hyderabad in Telangana, entire Assam are expected to go under restricted lockdown.

Many states have also initiated a door-to-door screening and scanning program to trace the COVID19 infected patients. States like Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and UTs like Delhi and Goa have initiated these programs.
