CBI takes charge, arrests 4 police officials in the Tuticorin custodial death case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has finally started investigating the custodial death of the father-son duo in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. So far, CBI has arrested four officials in the case, three of them were arrested on Wednesday, July 1.
CBI arrested Sub Inspector Balakrishnan and constables Muthuraj and Murugan on Wednesday. CBI had already arrested the suspended Sub Inspector Ragu Ganesh in connection with this case.
CBI is investigating the murder charge against the Police officials. It is alleged that the Sathankulam police arrested Jayaraj and Femm, aka Fennix, as they did not close their mobile shop in time on June 19. Later they were brutally beaten which caused their deaths. Jayaraj died on June 22 night and his son Fennix on June 23 morning. They both were under judicial custody at the time of their deaths.
The FIR is filed against six police officials of the Sathankulam Police Station. All the accused have been charged under section 302 of the IPC.
On June 30, the Madras High Court had directed the investigating agency’s Tirunelveli DSP Anil Kumar to probe the death of the father-son duo.
