Bombay High Court grants bail to Rhea Chakraborty

However, Rhea’s brother Showik Chakraborty's bail plea got rejected by the Bombay High Court. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had arrested them in September in connection with the drugs case.

Finally, after spending a month in jail, Rhea Chakraborty, the accused in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case and a proven drug peddler, gets bail. The Bombay High Court on Wednesday, October 7, granted bail to Rhea Chakraborty in a drugs case related to actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.

However, Rhea’s brother Showik Chakraborty’s bail plea got rejected by the Bombay High Court. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had arrested them in September in connection with the drugs case.

Eventually, a special Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) court in Mumbai had extended the judicial custody of Rhea Chakraborty and others in the case till October 20.

After Enforcement Directorate tracked some WhatsApp messages over drug deals, it called up Narcotics Control Bureau to investigate the matter. During the investigation, it was found that both Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty were in constant touch with various drug suppliers. Apparently, it was proven that Rhea used to conduct drug parties as well. However, Rhea’s lawyers shifted the blame on Sushant Singh Rajput and said that everything was happening at the behest of Sushant. Cleary, they know Sushant would not come to defend himself.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had launched an investigation after it received official communication from Enforcement Directorate (ED), in which there were various chats related to drug consumption, procurement, usage, and transportation in connection with Sushant’s case.

Sushant was found dead at his apartment in Mumbai on June 14. His death case was initially probed by the Mumbai Police. However, when outrage erupted over the conduct of Mumbai Police in the entire case, the Supreme Court ordered the CBI to take over the case.
