Bihar government extends lockdown till September 6

Bihar becomes the eighth state in India to have more than 1 lakh coronavirus cases. And, in the wake of this unprecedented rise in the COVID19 cases in the state, the Bihar Government has decided to extend the lockdown till September 6.

Nitish Kumar-led Bihar Government issued a notification on Monday, August 17 where it decided to extend the tenure of the state-wise lockdown.

The statement read, ”In view of the present situation of COVID-19 in the State of Bihar, in the exercise of the powers, conferred by the MHA by the aforesaid instructions, In continuation of the MHA order, the restrictions imposed issued by this department order wide memo no. 102/1:4.ita. dated 30.7.2020 imposing further restrictions will remain effective till 06.09.2020.”

The state government had earlier decided to end the lockdown by August 16.

Bihar has reported 103383 COVID-19 cases, out of which 72,324 patients have recovered so far. The state has also recorded 461 deaths due to COVID19 infection.
