The T20 Cricket tournament was to be played in Sri Lanka in September 2020. Though it was with Pakistan Cricket Board to host the tournament PCB chose to swap the same in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

As per the new schedule, Sri Lanka will host the 2021 edition of the tournament, while Pakistan will host the 2022 editions.

As per the statement issued by ACC, the Coronavirus pandemic is the main reason for the postponement. The statement said, “Travel restrictions, country-specific quarantine requirements, fundamental health risks, and social distancing mandates have posed as substantial challenges to holding the Asia Cup”.
